How To Speed Up Your PC

We all are using PC for our day-to-day work. While using it for a few months, we realize that our PC is getting slow. Here, In this post, I am going to show you how to speed up your PC.

There are plenty of factors that determine a slow performance of a PC. you need to work on it to speed up your PC. It’s quite irritating to work on a slow PC. So, let’s check out.

6 Simple Steps to Speed Up Your PC

Here are the 6 simple yet effective ways to speed up your PC and make it fast. You need to follow the below steps to troubleshoot the issue and rectify it to speed up your PC. Let’s check them out.

1. Delete Unwanted files.

We sometimes downloaded files and later it will be longer be a need for us. It will then unnecessarily occupy our disk space and makes our PC slow. So, Identify those unwanted files and delete them from your PC.

Clearing these unwanted files will improve your disk performance and thus speed up your PC. It will also improve your PC performance as well.

2. Defragment Hard Drive

Repeatedly using a PC for a long will fragment our hard drive which negatively impacts the PC performance. Hence, we need to defragment the hard drive. Fragmentation of a Disk means that the data stored in your hard drive is in the cluster. When we delete and copy files, they get fragmented.

Defragment Hard Drive

So, to boost the efficiency of your hard drive, you need to defragment your hard drive. To start defragmenting your hard drive, simply click “search” in your windows then type “defragment the hard drive“. Here you will find the drive which you need to defragment. Usually, we need to defragment the C drive where we install and uninstall many programs.

3. Remove Unwanted Programs From The Start-Up

When we install new programs or software, It may automatically activate that program on startup. That means when you boot up your PC, these programs will load automatically. It will drastically increase the boot time of your PC.

remove programs from startup

So, remove unwanted programs from the startup to speed up your PC and its boot time. To remove unwanted programs from the startup, open the Taskbar, then hit the startup menu. Here you can disable programs from the startup menu which is not necessary.

4. Add RAM to Your PC

RAM known as Random Access Memory plays a great role in boosting your PC loading speed and also speeding up your PC. If your System has low memory RAM then it might decrease your PC performance.

Today’s minimum requirement for a PC is at least 8GB RAM. However, if the above steps won’t work for you then you can expand your RAM.

5. Remove viruses and spyware from your PC

In maximum cases, it is assumed that the main culprit of a slow PC is that it has been infected by Viruses and spyware. When your PC gets infected it may slow down the PC. Check out this detailed guide where you will find some tips to browse securely online.

To prevent viruses from your PC, you can use third-party tools like Malwarebytes, Avast, etc to prevent virus attacks from your PC.

6. Use SSD

The mechanical hard drive is not reliable. Now, it’s a trend to use SSD (solid state drives). SSD tends to work faster than mechanical hard drives.

Today new PC comes with nVME SSD which is also much faster than the normal SSD. NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) is a communications interface and driver that takes advantage of the increased bandwidth PCIe has to offer. It’s designed to increase performance and efficiency while making a broad range of enterprise and client systems interoperable. NVMe was designed for SSDs and communicates between the storage interface and the system’s CPU using high-speed PCIe sockets without the limitations of form factor.

NVMe utilizes PCIe sockets, it transfers 25x more data than the SATA equivalent. Along with more data, NVMe’s commands are 2x faster than that of AHCI drivers. In addition, NVMe input/output operations per second (IOPS) exceeds 1 million and is up to 900% faster compared to AHCI drives

Using an SSD or NVMe SSD, the operating system will boot up faster and programs will load quicker and files can be saved faster. Today Many web hosting providers are also offering NVMe storage.

By implementing the above steps, you can drastically improve your system performance and also speed up your PC. If the above steps won’t help you out then perform a system format to rectify the issues. If System formatting is also not working then visit your service center to check if there is a hardware failure or not.

Hope you have found this post helpful and also help you to speed up your PC. If you like the post, then don’t forget to share it with others.
